Mosam Howieson

Warmly welcoming prodigiously talented local producer Mosam Howieson to episode 124 of Passing Notes. Although a foundation member of Melbourne’s dance community, I’ve always viewed Mitch as somewhat of a quiet achiever, perhaps in simpler terms a quality over quantity type figure of the highest order. Spanning the past decade, Mosam Howieson has become widely recognised for his masterful releases on acclaimed labels across the globe – Melbourne’s own Butter Sessions, Seattle’s Further Records and personal favourite in British Columbia’s Silent Season. Most recently, his brilliant long player ‘Aphelion’ is set for imminent release on  New York’s, Mysteries of the Deep. Mosam Howieson’s music is undeniably two things; deep and atmospheric. Striking an expert balance between ambience and energy and brimming with intricately woven texture, the result is meticulously crafted, contemplative ambient techno which leaves listeners safely ensconced in a far away world. In recent times, I’ve become increasingly enamoured by Mosam Howieson’s craft as he’s settled into his one of a kind sound. In the wake of a turbulent year, ‘Aphelion’ is essential music to our ears. You can purchase his album here.
